Wood Truss Certification Council of Canada/
Conseil de certification des fermes en bois du Canada

Welcome to the WTCCC

The objective of certification of metal-plate-connected wood trusses is to allow manufacturers the ability to demonstrate to the market that their product as been attested to fulfil the requirements of CSA S349:20 by an impartial third-party body. Product certification provides confidence for those with an interest in fulfillment of the requirements.

Scope of the WTCCC

Regional Auditing Organizations (RAO's)

The scope of the WTCCC scheme is limited to metal-plate-connected wood trusses manufactured in Canada certified to CSA S349:20 standard.

As metal-plate-connected trusses are manufactured individually for each application and can not be practically inspected individually the CSA S349:20 standard outlines a process of auditing a manufacturer’s quality management system. This includes documentation reviews of internal product inspections, review of their quality manual, review of a sampling of design drawings, observations of material storage and handling, and auditor random reviews of finished product.

The WTCCC standard outlines the auditing process for certification, including requirements for approved Regional Audition Organizations (RAO's) to oversee the auditing process.
The WTCCC utilizes RAO's for auditing activities.
  • Conduct audits using WTCCC’s standardized audit tools, checklists and procedures.
  • Report findings to WTCCC in a harmonized format.
  • Remain impartial and separate from certification decision-making.
  • Maintain auditor competency through their own requirements  and WTCCC training.
